Handling Anxiety While You're Unemployed

So, you lost your job? Hey, me too! In fact, over 20 million people are also unemployed. You're not alone. I remember thinking to myself, “okay, this might serve you for a month and things will get back to normal.” Well, as we all know it isn't. While companies are opening, there are still many of us out here in job limbo. We aren't sure when we is going to be returning, and that's giving us more free time than we thought possible.

While it can seem like a holiday from the outside, being home all day with nothing to do may cause anxiety and stress. I've found myself overthinking more than ever before with nowhere to exert extra energy. So, for those of you within this boat with me, I needed to talk about several things I have done for self-care in the time of joblessness and COVID-19.

Take a Walk

Never underestimate the strength of a great walk. I love to put on certainly one of my personal favorite albums, and wander the area. Sometimes, I do not put headphones in and consume my surroundings. Despite limited things to do, you can always get out and use a walk. Walking helps me exert the energy I've pent up from not working, and I've grown to appreciate my neighborhood.

Read a Book

Who doesn't like to read? I have found that instead of near the television, it helps to read a book. Personally, i like the feel of a tangible book and turning the pages. Becoming lost inside a story is a great way to kill a couple of hours.  I keep a consistent stack next to my bed, and often I recieve wild and go out on the porch to read.

Telehealth

When I lost my job, I wasn't sure I could afford therapy anymore, but there are lots of resources available. You need to take care of yourself while you are fretting about all of those other world. Even just using the text features have been helpful when I'm feeling anxious. The video appointments help me feel connected when I'm stuck at home.

Do Nothing

Okay, hear me out. Believe it or not, this is what I enjoy probably the most now. It may sound hard, but letting yourself sit back and do absolutely nothing can do wonders. At first, I'd a hard time with it, but now that I've had a few months of practice, I'm getting to know the cracks within my ceiling.

These are only a some of the things I have done, but they are the most important. I have struggled to help keep a regular routine, but using a few options to stop your day helps. Along with these, I have gotten around the puzzle bandwagon and took a shower the very first time within my life. As i have experienced more pressure than normal put on individuals to make use of this time for you to focus on the following big thing, I encourage you to take the time to complete nothing. Have a breath, you are coping with a substantial amount of history at this time, so take some time on your own.
